Ryan joined the David and Lucile Packard Foundation in March 2023 as Associate General Counsel. In this role, Ryan will be supporting the work of the Office of the General Counsel on legal matters, including contracts, corporate governance, cybersecurity, grantmaking support, and other operations areas.
Ryan was previously at Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) as senior counsel. In that role, he was responsible for assisting the legal team in providing counsel to MACP on legal matters, including contracting, compliance, governance and corporate records, and grants and investments support. He has extensive prior experience working on mergers and acquisitions, entity formations, and legal research and analysis to support business strategies.
Earlier in his career, Ryan was a business development consultant, where he worked with a private sector business, advising on matters related to business plans and expansion strategies, including work with the Jamaican government and the Marine Stewardship Council to obtain sustainable seafood certification.
Ryan received his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University. Ryan is a member of the Minnesota Bar.
When not working, Ryan enjoys cooking and exploring new restaurants, playing basketball and soccer, traveling, and spending time with family.
