In the decades ahead, the challenges that face the field of chemical synthesis lie in the discovery and design of novel, more efficient, waste-free synthetic protocols that provide rapid assembly of complex molecular architectures from inexpensive chemical feedstocks. New advances in chemical catalysis are crucial to fulfilling this objective and could offer solutions to long-standing problems in organic chemistry. My laboratory’s research objective is to develop new methods for chemical catalysis with particular focus on the use of simple, cost-effective organic catalysts to achieve reactions of high-value to the synthetic community. More specifically, my laboratory is engaged with the catalysis of single electron manifolds.
