“One-Stop Pleasure Shop” to Connect Youth with Sexual and Reproductive Health Information and Services

Mexico Vivo and RNW Media will develop an online “One-Stop Pleasure Shop” for youth in Mexico to access quality sexual and reproductive health and rights information and services that recognizes and promotes sexuality as healthy, pleasurable, and an individual choice.

Mexico Vivo’s work in sexual health includes a comprehensive sexual education workshop that reaches nearly three million people and is linked to Hablemos de Sexo y Amor (“Let’s Talk about Love and Sex”), one of five Love Matters platforms developed by RNW Media. Love Matters, which has regionally tailored websites for India, China, Egypt, and pan-Africa, aims to give young people access to stigma-free, pleasure-positive sexual and reproductive health and rights information, and to provide an online discussion forum among young people. Young people can get answers to personal questions from trained counselors – all via their phones. Building upon this model, Mexico Vivo will optimize their online platforms to connect young people to quality sexual and reproductive health services, online doctors and counseling. The “One-Stop Pleasure Shop” could lay the groundwork for similar referral tools throughout the Love Matters network and other Latin American countries. To measure their progress, they will analyze the project data to identify gaps in sexual and reproductive health and rights information to inform their in-person programming, to advocate for improved, quality youth-friendly services and education, and to improve the overall quality and services of the online platform. This one-year project will launch in 2019.

Quality in reproductive and sexual health services means health and pleasurable love, sex and relations, free from shame.

We consider pleasure a right and we want to use it as a driver of health decision-making on their (young people) SRHR.

Young people lack basic information on how their bodies work and their rights, so they aren’t able to say what quality services mean to them, let alone demand them!
