Katie Harkin is a Children and Families associate program officer at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. She leads community-based work in California, focused in Fresno, Oakland, and Monterey County, to improve equitable outcomes in maternal health and support healthy development for children in their earliest years. Katie’s role involves collaborating with grantee partners to support their work to advance maternal and child health, and co-creating solutions to develop a connected system of care that equitably serves families with children prenatal to age three. She joined the Packard Foundation in 2016 as a program associate.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Katie worked for Peninsula Family Service, where she secured grant funding for the organization’s programs serving children, families, and older adults, and expanded program evaluation and impact measurement. Katie’s previous experience includes working for a variety of nonprofit organizations, primarily in early childhood education and social services. She holds a Master of Public Administration from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Irvine.
When she’s not working, you’ll find Katie hiking coastal trails, experimenting with new recipes, or traveling.
