A stronger U.S. democracy is essential in and of itself, both to accelerate progress toward a more just and equitable world and to ensure long-lasting solutions.

While we have long used the levers of democracy to advance the public good, we are also committed to strengthening the system itself.

We work with a diverse set of grantees and partners to address the underlying causes of current democratic dysfunction, to create a truly inclusive U.S. democracy capable of enduring well into the future. These efforts include supporting healthy engagement and discourse, fostering a shared desire to live in an inclusive democracy, as well as work that improves the ability of our governing institutions to carry out their duties, and of technology to contribute to a healthy democratic ecosystem.
